So I’ve just spent about two hours of my first weekend afternoon with Kate back in the house and not working by installing and fiddling with Wordpress 2.5 . Strange thing to do I know, especially when Kate and I haven’t seen more than about an hour of each other every day for the past eight weeks - but Kate has been so emotionally drained and physically exhausted that she passed out on the bed a good three hours ago. Well, I’ve got to do something eh?
In playing with the Mac Pro I managed to free up a good few GB (400 in fact) by removing duplicate files from other machines in the house and generally sorting things out a bit. I then spent about 30 minutes trying to get the Prosoft Engineering website to let me buy an upgrade to their Drive Genius software. I remember back when I worked at Mac Format how I’d worked with Prosoft to put some of their software on a cover disc. The person I dealt with is still at the company and is a really nice lady. Were it not for that I may have forgotten the upgrade. Something was up with their site and it just took forever to get my purchase to go through. (Sigh)
Still, I have the software now, so I’ll be booting up the MacPro a bit later and doing some much-needed maintenance. Anyway, that lead me to the Wordpress site. I realised that my blog was a whole .6 of a version out! Shock horror! As the new wordpress looked pretty nifty I decided to upgrade. While I was downloading the update and shoving it onto the server I noticed just how outdated and quite frankly, over-the-top my old theme was. So here’s the new one, Cutlineby Chris Pearson. Thanks, Chris! I have modified the header image to be one I took last summer in Scotland while Kate and I visited the Ben Nevis region. I hope Chris won’t mind too much
There will be some modifications over the next few weeks to the blog’s look. It may take a while, but I hope to include some of the good bits of the old site theme while including some more modern and funky bits.
So, whatdya think?
