I’ve gone and done it. I’ve put the Banana on Ebay.
I would have loved to have kept her as my project EV. However, I know I have lots of other things that I should be doing, like running my business, converting Velma to PHEV status and looking after the house.
Honestly? I’d love to have her as my main car. She’s just not capable of doing what I needed her to do, so it makes more sense to sell her on than it does to leave her languishing on my driveway. I’m mortified that I was unable to buy a new EV as I’m too far from London for that to have been a sensible option.
No, for now I’ll just have to hope that our two Electric scooters, my Electric bike and the two Priuses (or is that Prii?) will go at least some way to make us green enough to still be accepted by the EV community.
I’m off to console myself with some Xbox time….

Hi there, it’s me, badnewswade. Wow - I see you’re offering the Lithium cells at £120 each!
What are the stats on them? I’ve just been thinking that if only lith wasn’t so expensive I could run my bike on them; I need to know voltage, ampage and weight most of all and if they can be charged from a fairly simple charger
I’d definitely be into buying one of them if they were 36v, over 10Ah, and weighed less than the existing lead-acid pack on my Sakura - or do you think it’s a bit of a long shot?

* (that’s if they don’t end up going with the car, obviously. Sorry if I’m jumping the gun…)

Andy, I think I may have confused you somewhat.
The batteries are normally £120 each, which means it would cost over £1200 for the entire set (all 43V of them) I’m offering them with the car for an additional £900….
Lithium cells are 3.7V nominal, so you’d need ten of them to make 36V (or 37!)
To be honest it would be a great idea, but they’re huge…
However, I do think perhaps there may be a better alternative for the sakura. If you’re still wanting two wheels instead of three or four, why not buy a lithium pack and charger for one of the ezee bikes - and then custom fit that instead. They’re lithium 36V….and only about £300 if I remember correctly.
Nikki.

Oh yeah, I remember. 100 amp, aren’t they?
The bike batteries would be great, but aren’t they only 10Ah? Realistically I’m after more power for that sort of cash - them 20Ah LiFe-Pos on ebay would be ideal, but they have to be shipped from China and they’re made of sticky tape and chewing gum, so if they went wrong… not good.
I think I’ll just wait for them to get cheaper. I’ve got a good feeling about it - I reckon in a year or two they’ll be much more affordable. Would still like to see a Sakura perform on a lithium - have you tried one in yours?
