That long, Really?

Don’t. I know. I’m terrible at this post-updating stuff. Life has a way of getting in the way of blogging.

Pepper has unfortunately been really ill. The vet thought that he probably has caught something from the local brook in Stoke Gifford. Until I went for a walk yesterday I thought it was a single event. However, it appears that about six local dogs have all come down with really bad diarrhoea at the same time. They’re all dogs who like to play and drink in the water. Coincidence? I think not. No, seems like maybe something has got into the watercourse to pollute it. I called the Environment Agency and they’re going to be carrying out some water tests. I hope they don’t find anything but at the same time would love to have an explanation for six dogs all falling ill at the same time.

I am now, officially finished until the Autumn Term. Apart from a few die-hard pupils who are very keen to continue lessons (and whom I don’t mind teaching) I shall not be seeing many of my students until September. This has meant a lot of extra time for doing house-related things. It’s also meant more time to plan my evil take-over of the world. Wait. maybe not. What I have been doing though is planning Velma’s imminent PHEV conversion. I have sourced one out of the two packs I’ll need to make Velma run well with a plug. I just need to go and check that the battery, located in St. Austel, is in good enough condition to be re purposed. It’s been unused for a while so I’ve got to check the unloaded and loaded battery voltages to see if it is healthy. The pack is a bargain too so I really hope it’s up to the job. Like everyone else at the moment cash is in limited supply so I’m out for all the cash I can save.

I’ve been teaching reed-making over the past few weeks. It’s rather strange because until recently I felt really uneasy about my own reeds, let alone teaching any of my students to make their own. Luckily for me they seem to be on the right tracks. Hopefully by September they’ll be fluent enough to mean I don’t have to make them any reeds at all. Neat :)

I am now also in a band. Go me. A band! A proper one, with guitars and drums and saxophones (that’s me then). The first rehearsal was a complete hoot and everyone there was great fun. It’s an all female band and all of the members happen to be gay too. In fact, there’s two couples in the band plus me. So it’s kind of neat as the band has a very cool feeling to it. I can’t wait until the next rehearsal. Watch this space.

We’ll be off to the London Motorshow tomorrow. Guess which area we’ll be heading to. John’s leant me a decent camera for the day too, so watch the Flickr account for more photos.

Finally, a quick question.

Why does John Lewis sell a £40 Gold-plated, oxygen free HDMI cable? A digital cable won’t need all that! What’s the point? It’s digital!

Grrr.
